Description
This is a French-style bombé commode (chest of drawers) in the Louis XV revival style The characteristic bombé (outward-curving) front and sides give it an elegant, flowing silhouette.
It has a rich, reddish-brown polished wood finish with painted decoration—a central floral bouquet framed by scrolling motifs in gold tones. It has two drawers.
This piece has decorative gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts and handles, including ornate corner fittings, escutcheons, and foot mounts.
The green marble top with a shaped edge that follows the curves of the chest.
Graceful cabriole legs with gilt mounts at the feet.
This is not an original 18th-century piece but rather a 20th-century reproduction in the Louis XV Rococo Revival style, made in The Netherlands.
