Description
Set of two glass table lamps by ILU di Vetro
Two beautiful glass table lamps by ILU di Vetro. A large lamp with a diameter of 35 cm and a medium lamp with a diameter of 25 cm.
The thick glass bulb of both lamps rests on a metal base.
The lamps’ elegant shape is reminiscent of a pebble or pressed ball.
The lamps are made of glass in a beautiful light grass green, in addition they have a yellow glow when lit, the average lamp tends more towards yellow. The large one can also be placed on the ground.
Designed and produced by the Dutch company ILU design, these lamps were part of the Vetro series. The lamps from the Vetro series are all made of Italian glass, probably from LAM Italy.
The lamps offered here are of a slightly less known model and therefore rarer. This monochromatic model was also available in orange and in two sizes,
The glass on these lamps is incredibly thick, the thickest ever seen on ILU lamps. These are quality lamps.
The glass consists of three layers of glass: an inner transparent layer, followed by a green layer and finally another transparent layer.
The combined thickness of these layers is 8 mm (0.31 inches) at the bottom edge.
Our research shows that these lamps were first commercially available in the second half of the 1990s and were sold in the most luxurious department store in the Netherlands, de Bijenkorf.
